We, the sovereign nation of Great Petronia understand that a country cannot be whole without its people. Therefore, the China-Petronia Party (CHIPET) recognizes the importance of maintaining human rights and a high standard of living for all people within our own nation and abroad. Consequently, we seek to advance interactions between the sovereign nation of the People’s Republic of China and Great Petronia.
CHIPET’s main focus is the violation of human rights in China. We understand that there are many underlying tensions between China and other nations – but we feel that the best course of action is to continue in the path of diplomacy. Hostility will get us nowhere. This is exactly why we are not willing to boycott the Beijing Olympics; we believe that sending our athletes and press will give us a better insight to the situation, while at the same time we will be following a diplomatic course of action. The type of policy that is crucial for open and frank discussion is a policy of engagement. While we see that China has made much progress over the past decades, we still see room for improvement though. By offering incentives, free trade, political, economic, and cultural collaboration, and general positive diplomacy, we feel that positive change is feasible in China as well as China-Petronia relations.
CHIPET wishes to see its bill passed which outlines our goals. Since our party must put the people of Petronia first, we wish that tensions between Tibet and China be eased and discussions start openly and frankly between the two. Chinese embassies all over the world are being attacked by Taiwanese protestors. While peaceful protests are essential for expression and should not be discouraged nor suppressed, the use of violence is abhorred by CHIPET. There are many casualties, including death and torture. Therefore, in the best interests of our people – we wish for discussions between the entities of China and Taiwan to commence. CHIPET strongly supports recognizing an independent Tibet. We again urge for diplomacy and peaceful resolutions.
CHIPET wishes to undergo a non-interference policy regarding Tibet and wishes to do the same for Taiwan. We will not deploy any troops nor shall we send aid to Taiwan. We acknowledge the One-China Policy, but still believe that this is an internal issue and thus our interference would not be legitimate. Moreover, as with Tibet, we urge diplomacy between the two and hope for peaceful resolutions.
We also wish to address pressing matters regarding the environment. We feel that the hope for a sustainable environment comes when all countries in the world make efforts to cut down on practices that harm the environment. Therefore, we the CHIPET group hope to open channels with China, whose government is currently funding more environmentally friendly practices. We understand that Great Petronia along with China is a signatory of the Kyoto Protocol and wish for it to stay that way. We know that renewable resources are necessary and hope to advance research and development to avoid gas emissions, as well as share the know-how and have a scientific and technological collaboration with China.
Going back to our mission statement for improving human rights, we wish to address the current situation regarding child labor. While it might be argued that child labor laws are domestic issues, we must say that human rights violations cannot be ignored, nor can human rights be taken away. Therefore we wish to inform everyone of this global problem. Furthermore, we wish for dialogue to solve this problem.
While these are pressing matters – we have many other issues with China that are to be discussed. Hopefully we can work together as one parliament – one country – to solve global issues that affect us and others in an astounding way. We strongly urge the Chinese government be open to frank dialogue. CHIPET knows that positive diplomacy can be used to solve problems and reach compromises. We know that this can only be done with the support of the rest of the political parties and hope for your full support.
Thank you.
